Our founder, Patrick Mate, is a US Army veteran who served on active duty for over 5 years, with a notable deployment to Kosovo. An innovator at heart, he has an extensive background combining technical and project leadership.

However, it was during the unprecedented times of COVID, when the world was asked to adapt to a new norm, that Patrick stumbled upon a niche yet significant problem. While working from home, there was no requirement to dress in formal suit pants for virtual meetings. On the quest for a robust pair of Made-in-the-USA jeans, Patrick discovered an alarming trend: the market was flooded with jeans that were either too stretchy, too skinny, or simply not of the quality he sought. Moreover, the vast majority of these jeans were not even made in the USA.

THE BIRTH OF PATRIOT JEAN CO

In late 2022, Patrick founded Patriot Jean Co, a testament to his belief in American craftsmanship and quality. With a spark of curiosity, he ventured to the heart of North Carolina's historical denim industry, immersing himself in a Denim 101 class. Not only did he gain deep insights into the craft of jean making and forging deep contacts in the industry, but he also saw the potential to rejuvenate the proud legacy of American denim.

Harnessing his background in supply chain and program management, Patrick established an exclusive partnership in the Fashion District of L.A., focusing on the design and quality of the jeans. Going a step further, he orchestrated a supply chain team dedicated to sourcing every material from within the USA. From denim to zippers and even the labels and tags, Patrick ensured that Patriot Jean Co's commitment to American-made products remained unwavering, even if it meant restarting dormant factory lines and absorbing additional costs.

The statistics are startling. Every year, 450 million pairs of jeans are sold in the USA, but most are produced in countries like China, Turkey, Pakistan, and Vietnam. By 2017, all major denim jeans brands had offshored their production processes. Today, the average pair of jeans embarks on a 17,000-mile journey before finding a home with a US consumer. Patriot Jean Co is here to change that narrative.
